Stunned

Nothing, I mean nothing, could have prepared me for the unexpected blessing I received on Dec 2, 2009. Stunned is the best word I could come up with, but that does not even adequately convey the glazed-over look that accompanied me for the next 2 weeks. Periodically you would hear me mutter, "it's not possible." To which my husband would reply, "Jen, it's not probable, but it's definitely possible." Technicalities.

So, here is a picture of what left me speechless...and this is test #4!

We had agreed not to tell anyone until after the doctor's appointment and we had a heartbeat. (Which was this morning). Well, I am a Crockett and when you can get the last word in, it's very, very, very hard (virtually impossible) to keep your mouth shut. So, I blabbed 2 weeks early to my family. This is how the convo went down at our annual Christmas party with 3 other families:

Setting: naming Jon & Robin's child. The suggestion was thrown out there of Travis Bowie Crockett. Thus, encompassing all the major Alamo players. You can only guess how that went over with my sister-in-law.

To which my dad replied: I"ll just have to have another one so I can name it.

Mom: You'll need a surrogate uterus and sperm donor.

Dad: OK. Jen?

Jen: Sure.

Dad: You have it, I'll name it.

Jen: OK. When would you like it?

Dad (looking at watch): How about 5 after 10?

Jen: How about Aug 11?

Dad: Carol, what's Aug 11?

Mom: I don't know.

Dad: Is that 9 months from now?

Jen: Not quite.
Dad (really confused): Aug 11? What's Aug 11? Do we have anything Aug 11?

Jen: If you don't have anything on Aug 11, I have somewhere for you to be.

Really confused looks. J and I were loving it! Well, J was shaking his head b/c as he says, "I saw the train wreck coming and kept thinking, 'Bail now, Jen. There's still time.'" He did later agree that it was priceless.

Nancy Neagle: Are you trying to tell us something? Are you pregnant?

Silence. 15 minutes my mom did not speak. She never saw it coming (then again, neither did I). I wish I had known - the video camera would have been rolling. I couldn't have scripted it better. This is about 10 minutes after we broke the news.

So...does anyone have baby/maternity stuff they would like to loan me? I gave it all away (and I mean all of it), because we were "done." I am not above begging and borrowing for Smith #3!
