Living Water

I feel incredibly blessed this year as I have been selected to be a part of KSBJ/Living Water's Marathon team. I had to write an essay on how the Lord speaks to me while I am running. In truth I said that I have 3 small children and running was the only time that I had true quiet in my life to hear from the Lord. It is my best time of prayer and meditation.

I chose to apply not just so I could get into the Houston marathon, but also because my father is such a believer in Living Water International. In part I did it out of respect for him. As I read more about it, the cause is incredible. They take the gospel into impoverished countries by providing wells for them to have physical water first. Their stated mission is this: "Living Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience "living water" - the gospel of Jesus Christ - which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. As I read, I thought "I run 7 miles for fun, many people walk/run 7 miles out of necessity." There is a desperate need for clean, life sustaining water worldwide that I take for granted. You can read more about LWI at http://water.cc/about-lwi/.

They challenged us to think about the countries we would help as we ran. For me, somewhere there is a woman, a mother, who desperately needs water to sustain an infant. My prayer for the money I raise is that one woman will get the much needed water, both spiritually and physically, to sustain that life. The thought of a child dying due to lack of water breaks my heart. I think about it when I run, I think about it when I nurse my own child, and I also think about it when I reach for a glass of water. Jamison and I have taken the challenge in our own lives for the month of January to drink only water and put the money otherwise spent on drinks towards this worthy cause.

Please prayerfully consider joining us. I have set a goal to raise $1,000 for Living Water International. Even a donation of $10 will help. Your donation is tax-deductible and will make a tremendous impact.
