To Infinity and Beyond
This Saturday, Jamison and I headed out on a date to celebrate our new adventure. I would love to say it was the picture perfect date, but real life happened and the date was cut short. I am thankful that I have an understanding husband and six years of marriage under our belt and we were able to still enjoy one another's company in spite of the circumstances. For those of you wondering, what in the world? My grandfather is in the hospital and in the middle of our night out we got a call that we needed to come and say goodbye. Ouch. Painful. We zipped through McDonalds for a diet coke, hot fudge sundae for me and some nuggets for him and headed to the hospital. Thankfully we were able to get there and that it was not the last goodbye. I am sure the end is near, but so thankful for some more time.
Back to the real reason for the post: One of the things that I have always loved about Jamison is his great sense of humor and he will tell you that he hasalways, no mostly, enjoyed, no, he has endured my quick wit. Lucky for him my quick wit has gotten to be a slow wit, if a wit at all, after three kids. As we were driving along we were discussing prom and years gone by. (It was prom weekend in Katy). He asked if I went as a freshman. To which I answered, "No." I reminded him that I more or less was in love with the boy next door all while growing up. My exact words were something along the lines of, "I dated, was in love with, what ever you want to call it with Bryan for forever." That's really weird to say to your husband. Not the greatest. So I followed up with, "and then I dated Barkley for, well he couldn't be forever, so must've been 'and ever.'" Dig the hole deeper and deeper and deeper. I finally looked at him and said, "What are you worried about, you get to infinity and beyond." Mommy brain has turned wit into child humor. Happy to report that Jamison laughed loudly and heartily over my comment. Whew...catastrophe averted.
