When I Needed A Smile...

Have I mentioned recently that Grayson is TWO? Oh my goodness, the child is about to do me in. I am exhausted by the end of the day. My well meaning friends keep telling me that three is worse than two. I am in for a few tough years if that is the case. However, in spite of it all, he has done some super adorable things that have made me smile this week.

Apparently he didn't nap at Mother's Day Out this week and I got "the look" from the teacher when she told me this. I didn't have the energy to ask her just how bad he was during naptime. However, the next statement out of her mouth melted my heart. When she asked him what he was thankful for, his answer was, "Hope." My heart just welled up with love for my little boy.

As we were driving down the road, I asked him what he wanted for Christmas. He said, "A Jeep." I said, "Are you going to ask Santa?" He said, "No, POPS." Pops is my dad. Giggle. BTW: That was an unprompted, unrehearsed answer. Straight out of the mouths of babes.

J loves coffee and has let Grayson try it. Grayson doesn't like it. However, the other day he kept saying he wanted coffee so I fixed him some hot cocoa so he could have a "hot drink" like his daddy. I even put a little whipped cream on top. A few days later I asked, "do you want some coffee?" He said, "Want cream on my coffee."

Tonight at dinner he looked at J and said, "Don't sing Daddy, just eat."

Priceless little comments that make us laugh and make it all worthwhile.

  1. Love your new background!

I think that God definitely lightens your heart when you most need it. Grace really tested me while Michael was at his 2 week conference. Today I watched her for a few minutes while she was in JUMP. She left her group of friends to go sit by a friend who usually sits by herself in the back. I was so proud of her, and it was just the glimpse I needed to lift my heart.

I'm glad Grayson's personality is giving you some light-hearted moments. Have a good week and Thanksgiving! =) Tanya

  2. Annabelle was relentless at this age, just relentless. The mental exhaustion is what got me. You are running uphill now, but the downhill will come! One day it will be easier. I know, because I have seen the other side. I'll be praying!

  3. I think you get one or the other - a bad 2 or a bad 3. Shep's 2s were not a big deal but 3s were worse, Maggie has not been that bad at all, and Eva Rose, well. She's just gonna be Eva Rose at any age.

But I think if his 2s are bad, his 3s will probably be better.

And - oh mercy - four ROCKS. Love four year olds. Four is the promised land.
