Today is kid bragging day over at It's Almost Naptime. I am participating as I felt Missy's heart when she said that most of the time our kids drive us crazy. To quote her exactly, "Really. I want you to be that totally obnoxious mother who thinks her child walks on water.Because you know what, we all KNOW that 75% of the time - give or take a few percentage points depending on the child - your precious offspring is driving you up the wall.I know that if I asked you to list their faults, you could go on for a whole dinner and dessert. (It's okay, in a few years they will be at dinner with their friends listing all our faults, never fear.)But I think that we moms sometimes, out of fear of being "that mother", don't say the good things about our children."So....bring on the bragging and I encourage you to join in. Sometimes it is good for the soul to remember all the Good and positive things about our kiddos. Perhaps we should do the same for our spouse as well!
Grayson Crockett Smith (My beloved first born) - 2 1/2 years oldr
Brilliant - Grayson's mind is a steel trap. You can take something away from him, stick it in your pocket and 3 days later he will go looking in that pocket for whatever it is that you took away. That's a minor example...we are constantly amazed at what he can remember. It's scary at times how well his memory works. If you promise him something, you better fulfill it because he is going to remind you of it. He remembers where things are at stores, at my mom's, in our house, etc. Not only that, but he is using complex sentences. Is this normal? We don't seem to think so. He also told me last night that something I said was, "heresy."
Grayson LOVES to sing. Often times he will spontaneously burst into song. One day it was standing on the promises and he sang the whole first stanza. We are not sure where he learned it, but he sang it and I was impressed. He also knows, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and several other hymns and children's songs. Hope will often bounce in rhythm to it.
His eyes flash as do mine. Jamison shudders at the thought because it only means one thing, pure mischief and that he is up to no good. I love when the flash goes through his eyes as I can only guess what he might do next. He's so like his mommy in that way.
Grayson LOVEs his baby sister, Hope and has since day 1. We brought her home and he wanted to hold her, help bathe her and most recently feed her.
Hope Elizabeth Smith - 8 mos.
My social child. Ever since the beginning we have noticed this and even the nursery workers have commented on what a social child I have. I cringe, but am so glad that she does not seem to possess the initial shyness of her mother. Walk down the mall beside me and you will find Hope cooing and waving her arms at you until she gets your attention. Not only will she make you look at her, but she won't be satisfied until you SPEAK to her. Yes, she is adorably cute, and she KNOWS it. At church I was told that she chitter chatters with all the other little ones. One day I was last to pick her up and they told me she started screaming when the last little friend of hers left her. SOCIAL I tell you.
As I mentioned in a previous post, she is a member of generation flat head and thus now a helmet head. The child has been a champion! No complaints. She uses it to extract compliments for people. She turns on the charm...what a ham!
Mostly, she LOVES her big brother. She lights up when he walks in the room, responds to his laughter. It's fun to watch as he loves her. In fact, she has already called for him. I taught her to sign milk. She quickly turned her hand over to signal come here and any time she wants him, she starts signing for him. So, no "mama" or "dada" here, just a sign for her big brother. It melts my heart!
My kids are the greatest and not a day goes by where I don't verbalize (at home to J) that "we have the cutest kids ever." And I truly with all of my heart believe that! They are God's precious gift to me.
I love the pic on the tricycle...what a cutie! It's so neat to see you view your kids as I do...in my case Emmy's just like me and Caleb is just like his Daddy. It's neat to see! Thanks for your post today!
ReplyDeleteYour sweet kiddos really are precious!
ReplyDeleteLG
What adorable children you have. Their smiles are just precious!!
ReplyDeleteYou can get a witness from me on all that.
ReplyDeleteDid Jamison tell me that Sat he told me "She is not cuddly" and then I took her and she cuddled and cuddled and cuddled with me? She just melted into my chest. Gave me a very good baby fix. So I am completely in love with her now.
