The storm clouds rolled in....the rain came and came and came.....it was a long night between the thunder, the lightning and the dog. Around 4 am we finally gave it up and got up only to find that water had made it into both of our closets and was starting to trickle into our room. We ventured out to see J's car parked in the street with water up to the driver's side door. He was able to get out there, crawl through the passenger side door and get the car into the driveway before any damage was done.
Even though yesterday was a pain - removing carpet, moving furniture, cleaning out closets and the financial stress that comes with it all, there is still much to be thankful for.
We have a roof over our heads that keeps us warm and mostly dry.
We all have our health.
The damage was contained to a very isolated area and is easily fixable - perhaps by mid-next week.
Most importantly through it all, we kept reminding ourselves of the great love our Savior has for us that he gave his life for us.
All of the things we hold so dear on earth will soon pass away and I was reminded that though I love my house, it is just stuff....none of it really belongs to me anyway. The question that came to my mind as I pondered yesterday, am I using what He has given me for His glory?
