1 week down....
We have made it to the one week mark in Hope's helmet. She's a CHAMP. Other than one fussy day, she has not complained at all about it. I am proud of her. Of course, the first day, Grayson was running around putting on different hats in the house and saying, "I want a helmet." The doc was right, this is definitely harder on me than it is on her. It makes her very warm, so I am constantly worrying about her body temperature, worrying about if it is too heavy for her little head, worrying if it is hurting her neck, if she is comfortable, etc. etc. etc. You know, motherhood breeds worrying. Pink helmets breed more worry. Of course, I would be not telling the whole truth if I said I wasn't worried about what people thought about my child and what was "wrong" with her. I have been amazed at how many people have struck up a conversation with me about their child, a friend's child, a grandchild or someone they know who has been in a helmet. All of them have been extremely reassuring about the whole process and one lady in Target today told me her grandson got his off in 3 months! I can only hope as that would mean only 11 weeks to go. However, I think we have more like 19-23 more weeks. Way to go, Hope!
